Without a doubt, being the GM of a hotel is a tough task. But Alex juggles her work and home life as best as she can. “It is stressful at times, but my priorities are clear,” says she. “There are times when the board room is a bigger priority, but I am able to pull it off thanks to my family’s support. My husband, who works in Kolkata, comes down once in a while to chip in. And, it is rewarding to see your children growing into mature and responsible adults.”
Despite her time constraints, Alex makes sure her children learn the values that she was taught as a child. “While today’s lifestyles have changed, the core values of honesty and hard work, patience are still the same. I try to inculcate them in my kids. By following the values myself, I inspire my children to do the same.” She says the secret to staying at her best self is remembering the important things in life. “I never forget that I am blessed to have a great family. When you are complimented at work and home, you tend to be at your best.
When asked the most important element towards leading a peaceful life, she replies, “One should be satisfied, and aspire for more. Concentrate only on your goals. Also, Make sure to spend quality time with yourself.”
